    4 Stages of Obesity Treatment!

Continuous, healthy weight management can be realized only when muscles are maintained while body fat is reduced.
Phil Hospital of Korean Medicine provides various Korean medicine for diet, including herbal medicine, workout methods and systematic menu management to minimize side effects and maximize the weight control effect.

    1. Rapid Weight Reduction Period
First, the amount of food is reduced to decrease the stomach's elasticity. When taking the Philgam-tang at this stage, the patient can maintain their muscles while reducing body fat.
    2. Stagnant Period
Unlike the rapid weight reduction period, in which the body weight quickly decreased, the stagnant period mainly focuses on reducing body fat while maintaining the moisture and muscles, which slows down the weight reduction process.
    3. Continuous Weight Reduction Period
The body weight is continuously reduced until the body fat reaches the desired level of weight.
    4. Preventing the Yo-Yo
After reaching the desired weight, the reduced weight needs to be maintained continuously.

Precautions when taking diet herbal medicine

    • I can't control my appetite.
When it is difficult to control the appetite with 3 doses a day, you may increase the intake dosage up to 4 doses a day.
Ex) Apart from the regular 3-time intakes, patients can take another extra dose in times when they feel the hungriest.
    • I feel dizzy when I get up, I have a headache.
It is the most common symptom when being on a diet. It is a signal of body fat being disintegrated, and drinking sufficient water when feeling headaches or dizziness may alleviate these symptoms. When the symptom is severe, patients may eat one apple, or one banana, or 100g of meat.
    • I have constipation.
With patients eat less food, the amount of stool may naturally reduce, with shapes like that of a goat's. Eat fresh vegetables such as cucumbers, tomatoes, or carrots, and drink sufficient water, more than 1.5~2L a day. If the situation does not get better, patients are recommended to take constipation herbal medicine.
    • I have dry, stinky mouth.
It is a natural response to the medicine. Keep water in the mouth for a moment and then swallow, whenever the mouth feels dry.
    • I have a sore stomach, I have a stomachache.
These symptoms may be relieved if meals are taken right after taking the medicine.
    • My hands are shaking, my heart is beating too fast.
The diet herbal medicine has an exercise effect, which puts the patients’ body into a similar position with post-exercise situations. It is natural, and the symptom will disappear after 2~3 days.
    • I can’t sleep at night.
Please make sure to take the night medicine 6 hours before going to sleep. If the symptom does not disappear, reduce the night medicine dose by half, and then return to the original dosage after the symptom disappears.
    • I sweat a lot.
It is a natural response to the medicine. Due to the exercise effect of the diet herbal medicine, sweat discharge may increase.
    • I have severe headache/nausea/vomiting reactions.
In cases of extremely sensitive patients, these kinds of unusual reaction may occur from time to time. As this is a natural process for the body to be accustomed to the medicine, do not feel so alarmed. Reduce the medicine dose by half for around a day, and then return to the original dosage after the body is accustomed to the medicine.
    • My eyes and skin are yellow, I feel severe fatigue along with vomiting and have indigestion and feel itchy, my urine became darker (brown).
Patients with weak liver, who are taking other western medicine, who overwork or drink often, or with hepatitis may experience these symptoms. In such cases, stop taking the medicine and contact the hospital immediately.
    • My menstrual cycle has changed, and I am bleeding.
It is a common symptom during diet. (About 10~20% of female patients experience these symptoms) Do not feel so alarmed, as such symptoms may occur while the body fat is being disintegrated. Please contact the hospital in such cases.
    • I became pregnant while taking the medicine.
If you confirmed being pregnant, stop taking any medicine you are taking and contact the hospital immediately. Do not feel so alarmed, since medicine taken until 2 weeks after fertilization is usually safe and does not affect the fetus.
    • I have skin rashes and itches on my skin.
Such symptoms may occur within 3 days of medicine intakes. It is a natural symptom that can occur while the body is being accustomed to the medicine, and if the rashes and itches are not too severe, we recommend that the patients to keep taking the medicine. If the rashes and itches are too uncomfortable, please apply sufficient moisture to the skin, stop taking the medicine for about a week, and then start taking it again. When stopping the medicine intake, make sure to maintain a regular, balanced meal.
